South Newcastle Rugby League Club officially opened its doors to the public in October 1955. From its initial inception as a local sporting club, it has grown significantly over the years to become a community venue with over 10,000 members. We have undergone several renovations to breathe new life into our club. We invite you to discover why our members come back time and time again.

SOUTH SENIOR RLFC
South Newcastle is the only foundation Newcastle Rugby League Club still in existence after playing in the inaugural competition in 1910. The Club has a proud history, having produced several internationals, State of Origin, and many NSW Country and Newcastle representative players. The Lion & Lionesses home ground is at Townson Oval, Merewether.
SOUTH JUNIOR RLFC
South's Juniors have over 300 registered boys and girls from Under 6's-17's. Our club is all about fun, teamwork and mateship - playing the greatest game of all. Souths Juniors home ground is at Learmouth Park, Hamilton South.
SOUTHS NETBALL
Formed as South Newcastle Leagues Netball Inc in 1969, our Netball Club are one of the largest and successful Netball Clubs in Newcastle. They approximately 800 players and support members and over 80 teams. Players range from age five to adults and all enjoy healthy competition in the Newcastle Netball Association.
MEREWETHER DISTRICT CRICKET CLUB
Established in 1921, Merewether District Cricket Club has a long and successful history as part of the Newcastle District Cricket Association. Regarded as the most successful cricket club in NSW Country, Merewether is proudly sponsored by South Newcastle Rugby League Club. The partnership between Souths and Merewether was forged more than 20 years ago and is a bond built on success.
